'Plymouth' Table

My brief for the 'Plymouth' Table was for a robust outdoor table that could comfortably sit 10 and squeeze 12 around it when required.

Designed in AutoCAD (computer aided design), the base is hand built in 10mm steel plate by shipbuilders Exeter Fabrication whilst the burmese teak top was salvaged from the 1936 Danish Trawler 'Theresa' , re-worked and hand laid by Barnaby Dearsly of Weathered by Water. Each plank is 4cm thick and has a natural curve in two planes which necessitated heavy metal base strong enough to withstand the natural movement of the wood.

Steel also provided the advantage that it could carry the full 3 meter span in an elegant form which is intended to echo the might and majesty of the great battleships of the 30's and 40's.

Hand built to order; dimensions can be adapted to meet individual requirements. POA
