Exeter Cathedral Chapter House Exhibition - July 2016

A solo show at Exeter Cathedral Chapter House. 160 attended the Private View with Brian Kirby providing accompanying music on the piano. A great space to see the work and I felt honoured to be showing the work beneath Ken Carter's great sculptures. Ken was a close friend of my father's and I spent some time helping him in his studio as a boy. Ken's daughter Amelia attended as did many good friends so it was a very special night.

    Boat Yard Project

For 6 months from June to Dec '15 I worked on a project to design and create furniture from salvaged fishing vessels. Partnering with Ship builders and salvagers Exeter Maritime Services and local craftsman Barney Dearsley, the work was a mixture of hands on creativity and Computer Aided Design.

The mirrors below were cut out of ships fuel tanks

Lights made from discarded welding spools

The circular metal spools held a wire used in welding machines but were discarded after use. Barney recognised the potential to incorporate them into lighting and I took the idea forward with several experimental models. The bases are made from solid brass bar.

This type used an old fish paste jars as the light diffuser.
